Mumbai or Bombay is one of the busiest airports in India. After all, Mumbai is the commercial capital of the country. Mumbai is the capital of the state of Maharashtra. Maharashtra is located in the western part of India. In 1995, the name Bombay was officially changed to Mumbai. However, the code for the airport has been retained as BOM (after Bombay), in keeping with international aviation norms. Canadian Airlines operates flights through Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. This huge international airport is located about 29 km to the north of Mumbai.
Canadian Airlines or Canadian Airlines International Limited ranks second only to Air Canada. Canadian Airlines happens to be the second largest airlines in Canada. Its headquarter is based in Calgary, Alberta, in Canada. In 2001, Canadian Airlines was taken over by Air Canada. A return trip that is a trip from Canada to Mumbai, and back, could cost as low as $1325. However, direct flights form Canada to India have been stopped since early 2007.
However, indirect flights operate through Star Alliance partners like Lufthansa and Swiss Air. These are stop over flights with a stop usually at Frankfurt or Zurich, depending of whether you have chosen Lufthansa or Swiss Air. The flights usually take between 21 hours to 27 hours.
